Your ‘Love-Shoot’ is a pretty cool time to relax and enjoy some time with your partner and get to know your photographer on a professional level.
One of the many questions we are asked in the lead up to this photography shoot is, What to wear for an engagement shoot. While the easiest answer is, whatever you want, it does help to have a few ideas.
Put simply your choice of clothing should reflect your own style, the location you or your photographer has selected and should make you feel a little bit special.
We do advise our wonderful couples to try to avoid big brand names where possible as they may date your images (fashions change).
Wear clothing that is complimentary to one another. An obvious one really: so try not to clash.
Remember that it is a special shoot and it is nice to dress up. Semi-formal is a nice way to go.
A couple of key points that could help you feel comfortable:
Field Engagement Photography
- Safety first: Gumboots are a must when you are into the long grass (and are an easy and quick change).
Beach Engagement Photography
- We would advise keep long hair back due to coastal wind whipping about
Rainforest Engagement Photography
- Bug spray and non-slip shoes are pretty helpful
Hinterland Engagement Photography
- Keep warm at this elevation, bring a coat, scarf or something to keep the chill at bay
Worried about the weather?
Don’t be too concerned. A little bit of a shower or some stormy skies can really bring some ‘mood’ to your images. The weather really is the one thing that we can not control (on your Engagement shoot and your wedding day), but we can use it to our advantage to create some magic.
If it comes down to it, we can move indoors and create some beautiful images.
