Next year, the year we marry, we will have been together for half of our lives! Simon proposed on our trip of a lifetime to Canada. The ring must have been burning a hole in his pocket as he popped the question on the very first day – which was NYE 2015. We were in Vancouver and it was the most spectacular day. We were rugged up expecting freezing temperatures, and while it was cold the sun was shining and everything covered in ice sparkled. We were walking through Stanley Park and came across the most beautiful spot that took our breaths away. It was a stunning clearing among the frozen trees and everything was glistening as the sun shone through a gap in the trees right into the clearing. Simon wrestled away with his gloves trying to carefully pull the ring from his pocket, meanwhile I was jumping up and down on the spot impatiently waiting. He really outdid himself with his speech which reflected on our lives together and looked forward to the future. I was touched when he later described how he had lay awake at night trying to think of the perfect thing to say. Needless to say that was the most perfect start to our holiday for which we were on cloud-nine for the remaining month in gorgeous Canada. We now can’t wait to get married at Poets Chapel next April.
